Georgian 18kt Enameled Glass Window Repousse Mourning Ring

SKU: 37359

$1,895

A wonderful gold mourning ring from the Georgian (ca1823) era! This beautiful ring is made of 18kt yellow gold and has a lovely textured repousse motif that carries around the entire band at the top and bottom edges. At the center of the ring is a glass window, behind which a small lock of hair would have originally been stored. Surrounding the glass window is a black enameled border, and the outermost border is a swirled repousse design. The band is enameled with black letters in antique calligraphy that read “IN MEMORY OF”. The combination of the vibrant yellow gold paired with the rich black enameled details creates quite a striking look! Stamped on the inside of the ring are several English hallmarks, including the initials "WE” and several other small symbols. This stunning Georgian ring is an outstanding example of mourning jewelry and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!

Measurements: The ring has a finger size 6.25, and unfortunately cannot be resized due to its unique design. The face of the ring measures slightly more than 1/2" wide and tall, and the band is 3/8" wide.

Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting, black enamel details, or to the glass window.
