Not many people are aware that Newark, New Jersey was a major hub for the manufacture of jewelry from the late 1800's until the 1950's. One of the leading companies, the Riker Brothers, has an early history that dates back to 1846. Their pieces are quite sought after and still remain highly collectible today.

This stunning oval bangle bracelet from the Art Nouveau (ca1900) era is a wonderful example of the Riker Brothers' talent! Made of rosy 14kt gold, the bracelet is a slip-on style bangle, which has a detailed repousse design on the surface that exemplifies the signature Riker style. The feminine floral motif features a row of lovely iris flowers that cover the exterior of the bangle, alternating with circular spacers in between. Each iris is intricately detailed, including delicate petals with curled stems and leaves. Flowing accents and flourishes form a beautiful textured border. The interior of the bangle is stamped "14K" along with the Riker Brothers's signature hallmark (a sword with the letter "R"). The design is very versatile and would look wonderful worn alone or stacked with other complimentary bracelets. A wonderful Art Nouveau piece by a legendary maker, it would compliment any modern or antique collection!

Measurements: The interior of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) has a 2 3/4” diameter wide and 2 1/4” tall and would fit nicely on a medium/average sized wrist. The slightly wavy surface measures approximately 1/2" at the widest point, and 3/8" at the narrowest point.

Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or textured repousse detail. A natural patina rests within the grooves of the repousse design, accentuating the flowing shapes and providing further depth and beauty to the appearance.
