Guilloché (in English usually "Guilloche") is an engraving technique in in which a very precise, intricate pattern is mechanically etched into an underlying material with very fine detail. Most commonly, the Guilloche surface was then enameled and the repetitive, intricate design would show through the colorful enamel.

A fabulous Guilloché enamel necklace from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! This gorgeous piece is made of sterling silver and is comprised of an egg-shaped vinaigrette pendant that hangs from a complimentary chain. The surface of the pendant displays a beautiful light pink enamel design, giving the piece a feminine look. The pendant is textured with a striped Guilloché design showing below the the enamel. Hugging the center is a punch-out seam, where the egg can be pulled apart and opened to reveal a hollow center. Matching pink enameled bar links interspersed within the sterling chain and a lorgnette extension hanging from the bottom of the chain complete the necklace, with a simple spring ring clasp in the back as well as one hanging from the bottom of the lorgnette. A lovely example of Guilloché jewelry, this necklace would make a beautiful addition to any collection!

Measurements: The necklace measures 21.5" long. The Guilloché vinaigrette pendant hangs 1" long, 2 1/2" long including the lorgnette extension, and is 5/8" wide and thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting or to the Guilloché enamel design. The vinaigrette pendant pops open and shut securely, and the chain and spring ring clasps are secure.
