Some sapphires are heat-treated to improve color, a long-accepted practice, while many antique stones are untreated simply because they predate modern methods. We disclose any known treatment on each piece in line with FTC guidelines so you know what you are buying.

Natural sapphires form in the earth and usually show subtle inclusions, while synthetics are laboratory-grown and tend to look very clean. Antique pieces predate most synthetics. Every stone we sell is represented accurately as natural or otherwise.

Sapphire is very hard and wears well, so warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush are usually enough. Avoid harsh chemicals and have settings checked periodically. We are glad to advise on care for any sapphire piece bought from us.
