Collection: Georgian

The Georgian era runs from roughly the 1710s through the 1830s, covering the reigns of the first four King Georges. It precedes the Victorian period, which begins in 1837, so Georgian jewelry is among the oldest antique jewelry a collector can realistically own.

Georgian jewelry was made entirely by hand in small quantities, and much of it was later melted down or reset as styles changed. Surviving pieces are scarce, which is why each one is treated as a collectible rarity and condition-graded before we offer it.

Expect rose cut and old mine cut diamonds, garnet, topaz, chrysoberyl, foiled paste, and seed pearls. Stones sit in closed-back, often foil-backed settings that were designed to glow by candlelight rather than to maximize modern brilliance.

Some can be gently sized, but Georgian settings are delicate and often foil-backed, so we advise on each piece individually. We recommend saving the most fragile examples for special occasions and will tell you upfront when a ring should not be resized.
