Old cut diamonds were shaped by hand for candlelight, with taller crowns, smaller tables, and open culets that give bold, chunky flashes. Modern diamonds are cut by machine for even, maximum sparkle. Many collectors prefer the warmth and character of old cuts.

Antique diamonds can be graded for color and clarity, though they were cut to older standards. Some come with reports and others can be sent for grading. We describe each stone honestly and can discuss any available documentation with you.

Clean gently with warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush, and avoid ultrasonic cleaners on delicate or foil-backed pieces. Have settings checked periodically to keep stones secure. We are always glad to advise on care for any piece bought from us.
