A fabulous silver book chain from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This wonderful piece is comprised of wide interlocking links that have an artistic hand-cut design. The links and connectors are smooth on both sides, and very light in weight. Two large spring ring clasps rest At the center of the chain, making the length of the necklace easily adjustable, as well as providing a place to hang a complimentary locket or pendant if desired. When worn, it drapes nicely at the neckline, making a prominent statement. A simple, yet stylish necklace, it would make a versatile addition to any antique or modern jewelry collection!
Measurements: The chain measures 1/2" wide and is 19" in total length, including both clasps. When worn at the shorter length, the chain measures 17.75" long, with a 1.25" extension hanging at the center.
Condition: The overall condition of the book chain is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver setting. Both spring clasp rings are secure and in good working condition. There is a natural patina on the surface of the silver, which is a normal characteristic of antique jewelry, but could be polished if a brighter appearance is desired.
