Marsh & Company opened in the San Francisco area in 1876. Originally selling Asian art, the company soon branched out into jewelry. From the late 1940’s to the early 1960’s the company became well known for its use of oxidized steel in making their unique jewelry creations, which have now become very collectable.

This Marsh & Company jade pin from the Art Deco era (ca1930s) is a simply beautiful example of the company's unique style! The Asian-inspired design is set in 18kt white gold and incorporates a natural jade ring held within a blackened steel frame, which has been oxidized to create its wonderfully dark, matte finish. The jade ring has wonderful semi-translucent coloring, including lovely shades of green and milky white that create a subtle marbled effect. Resting on the outside edges of the jade ring are two bezel set jade cabochons, which are set within the blackened steel frame. On the back of the piece is a bar pin clasp, and stamped within the white gold setting is the official "MARSH" signature hallmark. A very artistic and unusual piece, it has a beautiful look that would make a very special addition to any Marsh & Company collection!

Measurements: The pin measures 1 7/8" across at the widest point and is slightly more than 1/4" thick. The jade ring has an outer diameter of 1 1/4" and an inner diameter of 3/4".

Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the blackened steel or white gold setting. The jade is in good condition, and the bar pin clasp is secure and in good working order.
