Victorian Sterling Family Crest Cherub Fob

A wonderful and unusual family crest fob from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This fantastic piece is made of sterling silver and features an ornate seal at the base. The fob is comprised of a decorative double-sided topper, which serves as a handle for the piece. Both sides have a detailed figural design featuring two cherub faces at the top and bottom. Swirled detail and curved wings complete the ornate design, framing an open space in the center. The seal bears the image of a detailed family crest, featuring a large shield in the center with several symbols and feathered leaves at either side. At the top of the piece is a large open loop, perfect for hanging from a favorite silver chain. A wonderful example of Victorian era jewelry, it's perfect for any fob collection!
Measurements: The fob hangs approximately 1 1/2" long. The handle measures 3/4" wide and 3/8" thick. The oval base of the fob measures 1" by 7/8".
Condition: The overall condition of the fob is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting. The piece has a natural patina on the surface of the silver, giving it an antiqued look that is typical of the Victorian era.
