A beautiful and unusual bangle bracelet from the Victorian (ca1880) period! Crafted in 15kt gold (indicating English origin), this fabulous piece has a very eye-catching design. Three raised domes decorate the front, each with a starburst motif and blue enameled surface. A natural pearl is set within the center of each star, and a pattern of gold fleur accents are incorporated within the enameled motif. Completing the elaborate design are applied Etruscan beadwork and twisted rope wirework accents that add further dimension and texture. The hinged bracelet fastens with a push clasp at the side, and a safety chain provides additional security. When worn, it makes a spectacular statement piece that is as rich in history as it is in appearance!
Measurements: The inside of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures 2 1/4" wide and 2" tall. The belly front surface measures 7/8" wide, and the back of the bangle measures 3/8" wide. The center dome has a 5/8" diameter and rests 3/8" high. The outer two domes each have a 3/8" diameter and rest 1/4" high.
Condition: The bracelet remains in wearable antique condition. There are some signs of surface wear that are attributed to age, and are not unusual for an antique piece. Some of the applied Etruscan wirework details are no longer intact, but fortunately this does not detract from the beauty or appearance of the piece when it is worn. All three pearls are intact and securely set. The enamel shows evidence of previous repair on the side of the center dome, but there are no significant chips or scratches to the enamel in any of the three domes. The gold setting shows normal signs of surface wear on the interior and exterior, as well as some natural color variation in the gold. There is a natural patina on the surface of the setting, which is normal for antique jewelry and adds to its unique appearance and character. The clasp and safety chain both fasten securely and are in good working condition.
