A gorgeous garnet and diamond locket pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This marvelous piece is crafted in vibrant 15kt yellow gold and features incredible 3-dimensional detail. At the center of the piece is a large, oval-shaped cabochon garnet which adorns a diamond encrusted starburst riveted into its surface. Twenty graduating old Rose Cut diamonds surround a larger Mine Cut stone and together create a fantastic, light catching starburst which collectively, has an overall weight of 1.50ctw. The deep red garnet stone is surrounded by two rows of beautiful Etruscan beadwork, which are separated by a vibrant polished gold divide. On the back of the piece is an unusually petite removable glass frame hair locket, perfect for storing a special memento or keepsake inside. Completing the design is a decorative bail, featuring complimentary Etruscan beadwork accents. An exceptional piece, this stunning locket pendant would look perfect worn on your favorite chain and make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 1 5/8" long, including the bail and measures about 1" wide and 1/2" deep. The small curved locket space on the back measures approximately 1/2" long and 1/8" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or Etruscan beadwork and the garnet and diamonds are all secure and intact. The removable glass frame on the back is intact and the bail at the top is secure and in good working order.
