A fabulous smoky topaz necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This unique piece is comprised of a strand of rich, chocolatey brown smoky topaz beads that meet in the middle at a large smoky topaz pendant. The oval-shaped pendant is beautifully faceted along the sides and back, and riveted into the center is a large carved beetle with bent wire legs and antennae made of silver. Each of the topaz beads has a multi faceted surface, giving them a wonderful light reflecting quality. Adorning the top of the pendant are three carved topaz leaves, which have wire stems that connect to the bail. The beads are hand strung on brown thread, and the necklace fastens in the back at a gold clasp marked "14K". A magnificent statement piece, it looks incredible when worn and would make an eye-catching addition to any collection!
Measurements: The beaded necklace measures approximately 18" long. The topaz beetle pendant hangs 3" long, is 1 5/8" wide and 1 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the smoky topaz beads or pendant. The gold clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition.
