A highly intricate locket from the Art Nouveau (ca1900s) era! Crafted in vibrant 15k yellow gold, this locket features a raised repoussé image of a crowned woman. The face of the woman is adorned with pale pink and black enameling, which bring the regal figure to life. Her face is surrounded by flowing gold locks, and she is depicted wearing a double-layered gold chain. Furthermore, the woman is depicted with a singular earring, which is represented by a bead-set mine cut diamond. A crown rests atop the woman's head, and is further encrusted with bead-set mine cut diamonds and 4, bezel-set rubies. The border of the eight-sided locket is adorned with floral and scrolling-motif engravings, and is further decorated with 8, bezel-set mine cut diamonds. Together, the diamonds have an approximate total carat weight of .50ctw, and display H/I color and VS1-SI1 clarity. The top of the locket features a complimentary bail, which is marked with an "IA" hallmark. The backside of the piece features an original, personalized monogram engraving, which reads: "MRS". The top of the locket also features a small latch, which allows the piece to open. Once opened, the inside of the locket features 2, oval-shaped frames. A magnificent piece, this locket would make a special addition to any antique jewelry collection!
Measurements: The locket has a height of 2" (including the complimentary bail) and has a width of 1 1/8".
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the gold setting, enameling, or raised repoussé details. All of the stones are intact and securely set. The complimentary bail is in working order, and the piece opens and closes securely.
