A Trefoil is a symbol made up of three overlapping circles in a clover pattern. Originating from the latin word for "three-leaved plant", this symbol has had many uses throughout history, from architecture and heraldry to religious symbolism. It has also been popular in jewelry through the ages, usually represented by a cluster of three gemstones. A lovely ring from the Art Nouveau (ca1910) era! Crafted in platinum, this delicate engagement features a sparkling diamond trefoil centerpiece flanked by additional diamond on the shoulders. The centerpiece features three old mine cut diamonds, which exhibit VS2-SI2 range clarity and J-K range color, prong set in a trefoil pattern. The trefoil centerpiece is flanked by two single cut diamonds on each side, which rest in milgrained bead settings. The stones have a combined weight of 1.35ctw. Completing the design is a ridged gold band that graduates very slightly towards the back. A marvelous Art Nouveau piece with an understated but beautifully feminine look, the piece would make a great addition to any collection or a truly special engagement ring
Measurements: The ring has a finger size 6, but could easily be resized if desired. The diamond trefoil centerpiece measures a little less than 3/8" wide and 1/2" tall. The band measures a little more than 1.5mm wide in the back.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the platinum setting and all of the diamonds are intact and securely set.
