Fabulous "sapphire" and pearl Austro-Hungarian earrings from the Arts & Crafts era (ca1900's)! Made of gilded sterling silver, these gorgeous earrings are comprised long rectangular links which hang from simple earring wires. Each link is encrusted with alternating columns of natural seed pearls and faux sapphires and at the top is a complimentary cluster of stones and pearls with a single larger pearl in the center. The faux sapphires are all bezel set and have a rich blue color and the delicate seed pearls are strung on a thin wire. The dramatic links hang from a simple "sapphire" and pearl link which attaches to the earring wire and 5 additional seed pearls dangle from the bottom, completing the design perfectly. A beautiful etched design enhances the reverse side of each earring, characteristic of the Austro-Hungarian style of craftsmanship. The gorgeous design of the earrings makes them suitable to wear either day or night and they would make a wonderful addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang 2 5/8" long, are 5/8" wide and 3/16" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting or to any of the pearls or stones, all of which are intact.
