Victorian 14k Mother of Pearl Spinner Fob + Chain Necklace

A stunning spinner fob necklace from the Early Victorian (ca1865) era! Crafted in 14kt yellow gold, this spinner fob has an ornate double-sided hand-carved design. One side depicts a bear surrounded by two dogs in a forest setting. The design is carved from a single piece of Mother of Pearl with an incredible rich brown hue with a light grey pearlescent background. Pink and green hues luminesce from within the Mother of Pearl as it catches the light, highlighting the piece's incredible craftsmanship. The other side of the spinner fob depicts a fallen tree with foliage. The white Mother of Pearl shares the same beautiful pink and green hues, and this side of the spinner features a golden oval that could be engraved if desired. The Mother of Pearl designs are housed within a bezel frame with a dainty woven detail. The frame features leafy flourishes and two capped acorns with a matching bail (marked with an anchor and "P", indicating its assay in Birmingham in 1865). A 14kt chain holds the spinner fob, secured by a large spring ring. A matching chain is secured by a large spring ring to form a necklace, and the chain sections may be removed from the spinner fob to be worn alone or with other pieces. This unique necklace is a wonderful example of Victorian-era artistry and would be an impressive addition to any collection!
Measurements: The spinner design measures approximately 1 1/2" wide, 1 1/4" tall, and about 3/16" deep. The entire pendant measures 2" tall and 2" wide, and hangs from 2" lavalier. The necklace chain measures about 17" in length. The piece has a total weight of 22.1dwt.
Condition: The spinner fob is in excellent condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The Mother of Pearl scenes are both intact and securely set. The spinner is tightly set within the frame but spins when manipulated. All of the chain and spring rings are secure and in good working condition.
