An incredible pair of earrings from the Early Victorian (ca1850s) era! Crafted in 18k yellow gold, these earrings begin with a beautiful opal cabochon surmount. The opal rests within a belcher setting and is topped by a glinting bezel-set rose cut diamond. A larger rose cut diamond dangles below, carrying a beautiful pear cut opal cabochon. A golden cap decorates the top of each pear cabochon as each gorgeous opal is held within a pronged open-back setting, adorned by 17 rose cut diamonds. The opals, which were most likely mined in Slovakia, emit a gentle rainbow of red, yellow, green, and blue flashes as they catch the light, swinging with lovely motion. The earrings are secured by a golden ear harp. A unique and intriguing pair of dangling earrings, this opal and diamond pair would be a stunning addition to any collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang approximately 1 7/16" in length, 1/4" at their widest points, and about 1/4" deep at the surmount excluding the earring harp.
Condition: The earrings are in excellent condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. All of the opals are intact and securely set. The rose cut diamonds are intact and securely set. The earring harps are secure and in good working condition.
