Georgian 12k Enameled Glass Window Mourning Ring
SKU:45958
A wonderful gold mourning ring from the Georgian (ca1803) era! This beautiful ring is made of 12k yellow gold and has a lovely enameled surface. At the center of the ring is a glass window, behind which a small lock of braided brown and silver hair is housed. Surrounding the glass window is a black enameled border which elegantly carries down the shoulders. On the inside of the band just beneath the hair compartment you will find an inscription which reads "Cha Mackie, OB 8 Sept, 1803 at 57", dating this piece to the turn of the 19th century. An excellent example of Georgian Era mourning jewelry, this piece is perfect for any collector looking to add a very wearable antique piece into their jewelry box!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size 7 1/2, and unfortunately cannot be resized due to its unique design.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting, black enamel details, or to the glass window.
