Late Victorian 14k Diamond + Moonstone Pendant
SKU:46071
A wonderful "Man in the Moon" necklace from the Late Victorian (ca1900) era! This whimsical piece is crafted in 14k yellow and features an alluring carved moonstone center. The design portrays a recognizable "Man in the Moon" face, which has intricately carved facial features for a realistic 3-dimensional look. The translucent face rests in a closed back setting and hangs from a hidden bail on the back. The moonstone is prong set and surrounded by four Mine Cut diamonds in the cardinal positions with four gold stars alternating between them. The quality of the moonstone color is difficult to capture in a photograph, but is quite lovely in person. This very unique piece would make a special addition to any collection!
Measurements: The chain measures 8 3/16" long. The pendant hangs approximately 1/2" long including the bail and is 1/2" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the carved moonstone and all of the diamonds are intact.
