R. FRANTZ Art Nouveau 14k Pearl & Ruby Lion Pendant Necklace

A magnificent pendant from the Art Nouveau (ca1900s) era by jeweler, R. Frantz! Crafted in 14k yellow gold, this necklace is comprised of a gold-filled cable chain, which secures with a simple spring ring clasp stamped "1/20 14k GF". The chain is accompanied by a solid gold pendant, which represents an open-mouthed lion. The mouth of the lion features an oblong river pearl, which is secured by a three-prong setting. The pearl displays a lovely white luster, which wonderfully complements the yellow gold setting. The eyes of the cat are represented by two pinkish-red bead-set rubies. The remainder of the animal's head is decorated with intricate carvings, which add immense detail to the pendant. The backside of the piece features a hidden bail, and is marked with the R. Frantz signature. A unique pendant necklace, this piece would look lovely worn alone or layered with other Art Nouveau-era necklaces!
Measurements: The chain has a total length of 17 1/2". The lion pendant has a height of 1/2" and a width of 1/2".
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The chain is secure and intact, and the spring ring clasp is in working order. The pearl and two small rubies are all intact and securely set.
