Claddagh jewelry has become a widespread tradition that represents Irish history, patriotism, and culture. Claddagh, one of Ireland's most ancient fishing villages, is named for the Celtic word meaning "the stony beach." Claddagh rings date back to the 17th century and are still made in the present day. The emblem consists of two hands holding a heart in the center, usually with a crown resting at the top. According to legend, the hands stand for friendship, the heart symbolizes love, and the crown represents loyalty to the monarch. Depending on the direction the Claddagh faces and the hand on which it is worn, the ring is also said to symbolize the wearer's relationship or marital status, though the choice to do so is individual and not always observed.

This beautiful Retro ring is a wonderful example of Irish Claddagh jewelry! The ring features three interlocked bands, which are crafted in 14k yellow gold. When the rings are aligned, the piece's two small hands meet in a handshake. When the bands are separated, a small heart is revealed. The ring has a unisex design that would look wonderful worn by either a man or woman. This wonderful Claddagh ring would make a great everyday piece, and could appeal to anyone of Irish descent, or to those who simply have a special place for Ireland at heart!

Measurements: The ring has an extra large finger size 5, but could be adjusted up or down if necessary. The Claddagh centerpiece measures approximately 3/8" tall.

Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold mounting. There is a slight patina on the surface of the gold, which is normal but could be polished for a brighter look if desired.
