Belief in the evil eye dates back to Classical antiquity and beliefs have always varied across different regions and periods. Today, many cultures and individuals wear, own, or carry talismans to ward off the curse of the evil eye. The symbol was sometimes incorporated into jewelry, allowing the wearer to always be protected.

A wonderful Retro eyeball pendant necklace from the Retro (ca1950s) era! Crafted in sterling silver, this necklace features an oval-shaped pendant, which is adorned with floral and circular carved motifs. At the center of the pendant, a piece of handprinted porcelain represents an open eyeball. The grayish-blue eyeball is held within a bezel setting, and adds a unique flair to the piece. The back of the pendant features a hidden bail, and the necklace is accompanied by a sterling silver bead chain, which is secured with a lobster claw clasp. Additionally, the back of the pendant is stamped "MEXICO". A one-of-a-kind piece, this pedant necklace would make an interesting addition to any antique jewelry collection!

Measurements: The pendant is 1 1/2" wide and 1 1/4" tall. The chain measures 20" long.

Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. There is no damage to the sterling silver setting or porcelain eyeball. The bail and complementary chain are secure and in working order.
