ROLEX Art Deco 9k Conversion Wristwatch

A gorgeous and unusual ROLEX pocket to wristwatch conversion from the Art Deco (ca. 1919) era! The ROLEX 15 jewel movement is encased in 9k yellow gold Dennison watch case. This interesting piece was at one point a pocket watch that someone converted into a wristwatch by adding strap brackets at the 12 and 6 o'clock hours. The face is a pearly white with black roman numerals, with the 12 o'clock hour in red. The dial features two simple hands for the minutes and hours. On the inside of the gold case, you'll see a series of marks including marks for 9k, as well as an anchor for the Birmingham assay office and a letter "U" in a pennant for the date mark and finally, a serial number and the maker's initials, ALD. The movement is marked "Rolex 15 Jewels, Swiss Made", and ticks away wonderfully. We paired the watch with a black lizard-embossed leather strap with 14k gold hardware. The timepiece would look lovely paired with a complimentary watch chain, and is a must for the antique watch collector!

Measurements: The pocket watch measures 1 1/4" in diameter (not including the brackets), and is approximately 1/2" thick. The watch is approximately 8 1/2" long from the last hole.

Condition: The overall condition of the watch is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the movement. There is a small approximately 3mm crack on the watch's face between the 4 and 5 o'clock hour markers, but this is not noticeable when the watch is worn. The watch is in working order and holds time when wound.
