The opposite of a cameo, an intaglio is created by carving below the surface to produce an image in relief with the purpose of pressing into sealing wax.

An incredible intaglio ring from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! This bold ring is crafted in 14k yellow gold and features a square-shaped hematite. The hematite is held within a bezel-setting and displays the carved image of a solider. The soldier is shown in profile, and is adorned in intricate armor. The hematite has a grayish-black color that looks excellent within the yellow gold mounting. The shoulders of the ring feature a simple banded-design, and the remainder of the shank is smooth and simple. The inside of the shank is stamped "14K". A fabulous piece, this ring would make a lovely addition to any intaglio collection!

Measurements: The ring has a finger size 6.25 but could be resized. The centerpiece has a height of 1/2" wide and 5/8".

Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or carved hematite intaglio, which is intact and secure.
