An absolutely gorgeous multi-stone bug pin from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This incredible piece is crafted in 18k gold and sterling silver, and depicts an open winged bug. The wings and thorax of the bug are adorned with small rose cut diamonds held within shared bead settings. The fly's eyes are represented by two small rubies, and atop the center of the bug's head is a small pearl. Surrounding the bug are 4 bent legs that peek out from underneath and 2 gold antennae curve out from the bug's head. The pin has a wonderful 3-dimensional look with incredible detail throughout. The underside of the piece reveals a secure c-catch pin clasp which can be removed. It's a wonderful piece and would make a beautiful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pin measures 1 1/8" wide, is 3/4" tall and has a depth of approximately 1/8".
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold and sterling setting and all of the stones are intact. The pin clasp is secure and in good working condition.
