A beautiful pair of onyx and pearl earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted with 14kt yellow gold, each of these lovely earrings features a faceted onyx sphere lined with six seed pearls. The multi-faceted, rich black orbs have six pearls encircling the centers, each set within milgrained gold bezels. They dangle freely from elongated ovule-shaped toppers which have a surface covered in rich black enameling, wonderfully complimenting the onyx link. A small gold leaf design adorns the top of the surmount and a larger, natural pearl, also set in a 14kt milgrained bezel, rests at the base. The bold, rich black onyx and enameling looks wonderful paired with the pearl and gold accents, and when worn, each sphere hangs freely, adding lovely movement to the design. The earrings hang from modern 14kt gold earring wires. These wonderful Victorian earrings merge effortlessly into modern day fashion, and would make a perfect everyday accessory!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 1 5/8" long and the onyx spheres measure 5/8" in diameter. The smaller accent pearls measure 3mm in size, and the larger pearl on the topper measures 4mm in size.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold wires or faceted onyx spheres, which are free of chips or scratches. The pearls and enameling are intact and in great condition.
