A wonderful fly stick pin from the Victorian (ca1910) era! This unusual piece is crafted in 14kt gold, and has a simple and delicate design. A charming fly forms the head of the pin, complete with a 3-dimensional body, open wings, and six bent gold legs peaking out from underneath. Delicate turquoise stones line the fly's wings and body, while two additional stones represent its eyes. The fly is perched at one end of a gold bar, where a single white pearl caps the top. Below is the remainder of the smooth gold bar, the point of which is contained within a removable gold cap. This delicate and artistic piece looks lovely when fastened to a favorite garment, and is a wonderful example of Victorian era bug and insect inspired jewelry!
Measurements: The entire pin measures 2" long from end to end. The turquoise fly measures 1/2" long, about 1/4" wide, and 1/8" thick. The delicate pearl measures 4mm by 2mm. The removable cap is 1/2" long and 1/4" thick. The gold bar measures 1mm thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The fly is securely attached to the gold bar, with all turquoise stones intact. The pearl topper is intact, and the removable cap remains in good working condition.
