A stunning pendant necklace from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in 15k yellow gold and topped in sterling silver, this piece begins with a Serling silver cable chain, which is secured by a spring ring clasp stamped "SILVER". The center of the chain features a horizontal pendant, which depicts the Greek mythological "Rod of Asclepius". The Greek god, Asclepius, is associated with healing and medicine, and his staff is depicted in many modern medical designs. The sterling-topped snake coils itself around the golden staff which is topped by a single, lustrous white pearl. Rose Cut diamonds adorn the snake's body, glinting as they catch the light. The prong-set rose cut diamonds have an approximate total carat weight of .30ctw. The head of the snake features an additional, bezel-set .25ct old mine cut diamond. Delicate deep red ruby cabochons represent the serpent's eyes, and the tail features delicate scale-engravings. This gorgeous piece would be an impressive addition to a Victorian collection and a meaningful piece for anyone who devotes their life to healing others.

Measurements: The necklace has a total length of 16 1/2". The snake pendant measures approximately 1 3/4" tall and 3/8" wide. The pearl has a diameter of 6mm.

Condition: The pendant necklace is in excellent condition. The chain and spring ring clasp are both securely attached and in working order. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold and silver setting. The diamonds, rubies, and the pearl are all intact and securely set.
