A stunning sapphire and diamond crescent necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This gorgeous piece is crafted in sterling silver topped 18kt gold and forms the shape of a sparkling crescent moon. Accenting the front surface of the crescent are 19 old Mine Cut diamonds and no heat Ceylon sapphires, which rest within a shared prong setting and tiny delicate beads are featured at each tip. The sparkling stones graduate in size, with the larger diamonds and sapphires at the center and the smaller at the tips and collectively, the overall approximate diamond weight for the piece is 2.60ctw. The brilliant white stones have color in the J-K range and VS 1-2 range in clarity, exhibiting exceptional quality for a piece from this era. The sapphires have a beautiful corn blue color and have a total weight of 2.50ctw+ and are no heat Ceylon sapphires. The crescent, which was originally worn as a pin, has since been converted to a pendant and hangs from two gold rings at the top which connect to a modern platinum chain that fastens in the back and is stamped 14k on the lobster clasp. A truly gorgeous piece, this sparkling necklace looks stunning when worn and would make a fantastic addition to any collection!
Measurements: The chain has a total length of 16", and the crescent measures 1 1/8" tall and 1" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold or sterling silver settings. All of the sapphires and diamonds are secure and intact. The lobster claw clasp is in working order.
