An absolutely stunning mourning necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era. Crafted in vibrant 18k yellow gold, the necklace is comprised of a single strand of graduated gold beads which are strung on a gold chain. At the center of the necklace are 22 teardrop shaped onyx stones, each of which hang from the chain with a small jump ring and are separated by three gold beads. The 22 onyx teardrops, which graduate in length, are shorter towards the ends and longer in the center. The necklace is completed at the end with a simple pissh clasp hidden within four small gold beads. It's a simply marvelous and striking necklace that would be great piece worn for a special occasion!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 18" long. The gold beads have a diameter ranging from 3.85mm to 6.25mm. The tear drop shaped onyx pieces range in size from 1 1/4" long and just under 3/8" at the widest point being the smallest and just over 1/2" long and 1/4" at the widest point being the largest.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the round gold beads or onyx teardrops. The clasp is secure and in good working condition.
