An absolutely gorgeous gold locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in 15kt yellow gold by J.W. Benson, an acclaimed English watchmaker and jeweler, the locket is a substantial oval with a brushed surface. A sterling silver diamond crescent and a sterling star adorn the front surface. There are 15 Old Mine Cut diamonds set into the crescent and one in the eight-pointed star, weighing a collective total of 1.25ctw. The locket opens to reveal two open spaces to store special photographs, secured by rosy gold frames. At the top of the locket is a gold loop and bail (marked "J.W.B." and "15CT"), making it easy to hang and wear from your favorite gold chain. A very versatile everyday piece, this gorgeous Victorian locket merges seamlessly into modern fashion and would make a perfect addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2 11/16" (including the bail) and2 1/8" long (excluding the bail), is 1 3/4" wide, and less than 5/8" at its deepest points. The locket's total weight is 22.4dwt.
Condition: The locket is in overall excellent condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or bail, which is intact. The locket opens easily and stays securely closed. There are no glass photograph covers inside, but both of the frames are secure.
