Bohemian garnet jewelry dates back to the 19th century. During this time, garnets were one of the most popular types of stones used in jewelry production. The garnets were often placed close together in an effort to produce a more pronounced color and brightness than when they were set singularly. Most often, bohemian garnet jewelry was set in a closed back setting made of rose gold gilt over silver; this method is sometimes referred to as 'garnet gold'.
A fabulous Bohemian garnet bracelet from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This gorgeous bangle is made of gilded silver, and is entirely encrusted with bead-set garnets. The garnets vary slightly in size, but are all round-cuts. The garnets display a captivating deep red hue, which wonderfully complements the metal of the bangle. The piece secures with a simple push clasp, and is further secured by an added safety chain. A stylish piece, this Victorian-era bracelet would blend seamlessly into any antique jewelry collection!
Measurements: The inside of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures 2 3/8" wide and 2 1/8" tall. It would fit nicely on a medium/average sized wrist. The surface of the bracelet measures 5/8" wide.
Condition:The bracelet is in excellent condition. All of the garnets are secure and intact, and there is no apparent damage to the gilded bangle. The push clasp and added safety chain are both secure and in working order.
