A beautiful sword pendant necklace from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Originally a brooch, this stunning piece has since been converted into a pendant necklace for modern day wear. Crafted in sterling silver, the pendant forms the shape of a realistic rapier sword adorned with a surface covered in pavé set turquoise stones. The sword has a slender, two-edged blade, just like a real rapier, and comes to a sharp point at the tip. The hilt (handle) features a protective curved guard and twisted rope-style grip, adding texture to the visually appealing piece. Gorgeous turquoise stones decorate the entire front surface and display a range of lovely dark green and pale blue shades. The back reveals a hidden bail which allows the piece to hang vertically from a fine silver chain and fastens with a secure spring ring clasp which is stamped with an "835" purity mark. A bold conversion piece, it merges effortlessly into modern fashion, and would make a perfect everyday accessory!
Measurements: The overall length of the necklace is 24". The sword pendant measures approximately 2 3/8" tall, a little more than 1" wide, and is 1/4" in depth.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver setting. All of the turquoise stones are securely set. There is very slight damage to a few of the turquoise stones, however, it is not noticeable when worn, nor does it detract from the overall integrity of the piece. The chain and clasp are secure and in good working order.
