A beautiful memorial set from the Victorian (ca1883) era! Created by the Bridden Brothers and crafted in sterling silver, the set has an intriguing design. A raised silver oval centers each piece atop a rectangular shape adorned with milgrain and a clover design. A fanned detail creates a scalloped edge. On the underside of the brooch is a hidden locket compartment, ready to hold a beloved photo. The earrings hang from simple hooked earring wires that allow them to dangle with lovely motion, and the pin is secured with a pin and c-clasp. The earrings are stamped with "B. BROS.", and an "i" date mark, an anchor (indicating assay in Birmingham), and a lion (indicating silver content). The brooch is stamped an "i" date mark, an anchor, a lion, and "F.V." The earring and pin set is accompanied by its original brown leather box embossed with a gold "E.S.", lined with deep royal blue satin and velvet. This set is in wonderful condition and would be a perfect addition to any mourning or Victorian silver collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang 1 3/16" in length including the earring wire. The earring design measures nearly 11/16" tall, slightly more than 1/2" wide, and less than 3/16" deep. The pin measures 1 3/4" wide, 1 1/8" tall, and about 11/16" deep excluding the pin mechanism.
Condition: The earrings and pin are all in excellent condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver settings. The pin's locked frame and glass are intact and securely set. The earring wires and the pin mechanism are all secure and in good working condition. The box is in good antique condition and closes securely.
