In French, fleur-de-lis means "lily flower." Decorative ornaments that resemble the fleur-de-lys have appeared in artwork from the earliest human civilizations. It has consistently been used as a royal emblem, though different cultures have interpreted its meaning in various ways.
A gorgeous fleur-de-lis pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This sterling silver piece forms the shape of the recognizable flower motif with beautiful bead set turquoise stones lining the front. Varying slightly in size and color, the natural stones display lovely sky blue and sea green hues, a wonderful color combination against the piece's silver surface. The back of the piece is smooth and dainty. A simple round bail is attached at the top, perfect for hanging from a favorite chain. This stunning fleur-de-lys pendant merges seamlessly into modern day fashion and would make a beautiful addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 1 1/4" long (including the bail), is 71" wide, and 1/16" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting or to the turquoise stones, all of which are secure and intact. The bail is secure and in good working order. There is a natural patina on the surface of the silver, which is normal and adds to the unique beauty and appearance of the piece.
