In French, fleur-de-lys means "lily flower." Decorative ornaments that resemble the fleur-de-lys have appeared in artwork from the earliest human civilizations. It has consistently been used as a royal emblem, though different cultures have interpreted its meaning in various ways.
A spectacular fleur-de-lys pendant from the Edwardian (ca1910) era! This breathtaking piece is crafted in vibrant 18kt gold and topped in platinum, creating a lovely two-tone appeal. Covering the surface of the pendant is an array of sparkling pavé diamonds, which are set in platinum and have an approximate total carat weight of 1.25ctw. Set within each "petal" of the fleur-de-lys flower is a luscious Ceylon sapphire, adding a gorgeous pop of vivid blue. The natural no-heat sapphires are bezel set and beautifully faceted, weighing approximately 3.00ctw combined. The center stone is a Cushion Mine Cut, while the outer two Mine Cut sapphires are faceted into soft teardrop shapes. The back of the pendant reveals a hidden bail attached behind the tip of the fleur-de-lys, where a favorite chain can be threaded through seamlessly. A truly outstanding piece, it would look incredible worn on special occasions, and would make a magnificent addition to any collection of fine antique jewelry!
Measurements: The fleur-de-lys pendant measures 1 1/4" tall, 1" wide, and 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the platinum and gold setting. All of the diamonds and sapphires are intact and securely set. The bail is secure and in good condition.
