In the late 17th century, a Venetian polisher named Vincent Peruzzi developed what is now known as the "Peruzzi Cut" diamond. This beautiful fancy cut pre-dates the modern Brilliant Cut and was adapted from an older style known as the "Mazarin Cut." Originally, the Mazarin Cut featured 17 facets on the crown, which Peruzzi increased to a total of 33. This new addition of facets and their specific arrangement brought greater liveliness and brilliance to the diamond. It also paved the way for subsequent cuts, such as the more commonly known Cushion, Old Mine Cut, and Old European Cut varieties. Although the Peruzzi Cut is relatively rare in the modern day, its timeless beauty continues to enchant diamond lovers and collectors alike!
A beautiful shooting arrow necklace from the Early Victorian (ca1850) era! This lovely piece is comprised of a striking arrow pendant that hangs from a modern 14kt gold cable chain. The silver-topped gold arrow is decorated with sparkling rose cut diamonds that line the arrow head and feathered tail. Resting in the center of the piece is a mesmerizing Peruzzi cut diamond suspended in a silver collet setting. Attached to either side of the arrow is a modern yellow gold cable chain, which fastens with a spring ring clasp in the back. The arrow originated as a pin that has now been converted into a pendant, making this necklace a wonderful antique conversion piece! This gorgeous necklace merges seamlessly into modern day trends, and would make a perfect everyday accessory!
Measurements: The necklace measures 16" long. The arrow pendant itself measures about 2 3/8" long, 3/8" at the widest point, and 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Aside from normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the setting or diamonds, all of which are intact. The chain and clasp are secure and in good working condition.
