A Figa is a symbol worn around the world to attract good luck to the person wearing it. It is depicted by a single clenched fist, and is often crafted in metal, wood, stone or ivory. The Figa is traditionally thought to bring good luck only if it is given as a gift.
This coral multi-charm pendant necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era features a wonderful example of a traditional Figa motif! This gorgeous collection is comprised of four lovely 3-dimensional natural coral amulet charms that hang from an ornate 14kt yellow gold chain necklace. The combination of hand-carved charms consists of a delicate strawberry, a realistic oxblood coral pig, an elongated figa, and a curved shape with two feathers at the base. Each charm is fitted with 10kt or 14kt gold settings, creating an eye-catching combination next to the rich, vibrant orange coral. The collection hangs from an ornate chain link extension with a large spring ring clasp on either end, with one clasp also fastening the matching ornate chain necklace together. The gorgeous chain is comprised of interlocking round wirework links, each one embellished with delicate beaded accents to create a lovely textured surface. The charms dangle with lovely movement from the extension chain, which can be removed or more charms can be added, creating endless versatility when worn. This fantastic piece is perfect for any coral lover, and would look beautiful worn alone or grouped with other charms!
Measurements: The chain measures 18.5" in total length. The chain extension and multi-charm combination hangs about 3 1/4" long. Each charm varies in shape and size, with the largest measuring 1 1/2" long, and the smallest measuring 3/4" long.
Condition: The overall condition of the coral charm pendant necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or chain or to the carved coral pieces. The spring ring clasps are secure and in good working order.
