An exquisite and unusual pair of micro mosaic earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Each earring frames two jasper stones within a curvy 14kt gold setting. The jasper is coppery in color, and boasts a spectacular shimmering quality, with fine sparkling pigments throughout. An intricate micro mosaic image is inlaid into the center of each jasper plaque. The charming motif depicts white and blue birds, which are perched amongst colorful flowers and leaves. The delicate tiles are carefully cut and fitted, closely resembling a painting! Completing the design are flowing gold borders, which surround the jasper plaques, ending with a gold ball accent that hangs from the base. Simple gold wires are attached to the top of each surmount. When worn, the earrings frame the face beautifully, dangling with lovely movement. A stunning example of Italian Victorian artistry, these unique earrings would make a special addition to any antique jewelry collection!

Measurements: The earrings hang approximately 2 1/2" long, are 7/8" at the widest point and have a depth of 1/4".

Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or earring wires. The copper jasper stones are in good condition. The mosaics have a few very minor chips, which is not uncommon for a Victorian micro mosaic piece. However, the wear is not noticeable when the earrings are worn, and does not detract from the beauty of the design.
