Bohemian garnet jewelry dates back to the 19th century. During this time, garnets were one of the most popular types of stones used in jewelry production. The garnets were often placed close together in an effort to produce a more pronounced color and brightness than when they were set singularly. Most often, bohemian garnet jewelry was set in a closed back setting made of rose gold gilt over silver; this method is sometimes referred to as 'garnet gold'.
A beautiful pair of Bohemian garnet earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Each gold-filled earring features a ball-shaped surmount that tops flower-shaped garnet centerpieces. The floral centerpieces feature a large Bohemian garnet cabachon that is centrally located, and two bordering rows of smaller stones. The stones are pavé set and beautifully faceted, catching the light for a soft sparkle! Completing the design are clasped earring wires at the top. When worn, the earrings dangle with lovely movement, framing the face nicely. They are perfect for the Bohemian garnet lover, and would make a stylish addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 1 1/2" long (including the wire tops). The garnet ball links measure 1" in size, and the round surmounts have an 6.65mm diameter.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold-filled setting or clasped earring wires. All of the bohemian garnet stones are intact and securely set.
