Victorian Sterling Silver & Lava Cameo Necklace

A simply exquisite lava cameo necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This extravagant piece is comprised of 17 large cameos, all made from different colors of lava. The cameos graduate in size, getting larger towards the center. Hanging from the three largest center lava pieces are three teardrop-shaped lava cameos that rest in a festoon style. Each cameo is intricately hand carved and bezel set in sterling silver. The lava has wonderful hues of sage green, clay red, beige, taupe, white and black, which are very unusual colors of lava to be used in jewelry. Each carved cameo depicts the wonderful image of a different woman's face. The clasp is hidden within one of the cameos, and there is a clasped safety chain for added security. The necklace is of Italian descent and would make an absolutely fabulous addition to any collection!

Measurements: The entire length of the necklace is 19" long. The cameos range in size, measuring approximately 1 1/4" tall, 1 1/4" wide and 3/8" thick, as the largest and 7/8" tall, 3/4" wide and 1/4" thick as the smallest. The teardrop cameo's measure 1 5/8" tall, 1/2" wide and 1/4" thick and 1 1/4" tall, 1/2" wide and 1/4" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. There is no apparent damage to any of the lava cameos or to the sterling setting. The clasp and safety chain are secure and in good working condition.
