Vintage Modernist Swedish Sterling Silver Moonstone Ring

This unusual Scandinavian Mid Century ring (ca1952) is a fantastic example of Swedish silver craftsmanship! Crafted in sterling silver, the impressive 3-dimensional ring is quite substantial in size and bold in appearance. A tall, cylindrical, "top hat" shape forms the top, with a round moonstone at the center. The alluring moonstone has a translucent body and a strong blue iridescence which flashes beautifully in its open backed setting. Encircling the bezel set stone is a carved groove design which beams from the center. Additionally, a complimentary carved design adorns the entire surface of the mounting, carrying around the entire length in a graduating zigzag pattern. The grooved lines are inlaid with black resin, creating a rich contrast between the sterling silver setting and the ring's sculptural design sits high, but wears very comfortably. On the inside of the ring are multiple marks, which include "BHS," the Swedish "S," sterling purity mark, a trefoil of crowns, a crowned figure representing the Stockholm town mark, "B9" (reflecting its manufacturing date of 1952), and the makers mark "BS". An outstanding ring, this statement piece would make a fantastic addition to any Modernist jewelry collection!
Measurements: The ring has an approximate finger size 5.25, but could be re-sized. The circular centerpiece has a 5/8" diameter, and rests 1/4" above the finger when worn. The moonstone measures 3/8" in diameter. The band is 4mm wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting, or moonstone, which remains intact and securely set. There is a natural patina on the surface of the silver, which is a normal characteristic of vintage jewelry.
